A woman who allegedly took off with a van carrying 10,000 Krispy Kreme donuts is still on the run, according to police in Australia, as investigators attempt to track her down.

CCTV footage allegedly shows the woman stealing the van at a service station on Pennant Hills Road in Carlingford, northwest Sydney, at 3.30am on Wednesday.

Police said the driver was paying the cashier inside when the woman jumped into the vehicle and drove away.

The van driver stopped as they were making a number of deliveries of festive-themed donuts to locations around Newcastle.

Krispy Kreme said its staff had been working flat out to replace the missing stock as cops sought to locate the woman and the van’s valuable cargo.

The company said in a statement: "Police are currently searching for the van and the sweet-toothed thief.

"We are happy to advise that customers who were intending to purchase or who had orders placed at Krispy Kreme Charlestown will be able to get their doughnuts, as stock has already been replaced."

Police have confirmed that an active investigation is underway.

The woman police wish to speak to is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, in her early 30s, with long black or brown hair.

"Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."

The van, which police said was "regrettably not sprinkled with tracking devices" is a white LDV van with NSW registration DG94MY.

Lenny Reddy, Head of Supply Chain at Krispy Kreme ANZ, thanked law enforcement for their speedy response and confirmed that the donut supply had already been replaced.
